Day 1 Rome Welcome to Rome! Transfer to the hotel. Special welcome dinner with wine at one of Rome’s traditional restaurants.
Day 2 Rome – Narni – Spoleto: Discovery of the green province of Umbria, made famous by the movie ‘My House in Umbria’. Enjoy a guided visit in Narni that has been the inspiration for the ‘Chronicles of Narnia’. Then, a true highlight: learn the art of homemade pasta during a pasta demonstration, and, of course, enjoy lunch afterwards. Next is Spoleto where you’ll enjoy a walking tour with a local guide. Special dinner with wine in a local restaurant. Overnight in Spoleto.
Day 3 Spello – Assisi In Spello, enjoy an olive oil tasting in an authentic oil mill. Time for free lunch before continuing to Assisi. Guided walking tour with visits to St. Clare’s Church and St. Francis Basilica. Dinner and overnight in Spoleto.
Day 4 Excursion to Perugia Short drive to Perugia, capital of Umbria and important university town. After a guided walking, a special treat: visit the original Perugina Baci Chocolate Factory, and taste Italy’s most delectable candy. Enjoy a dinner in a local tavern. Overnight in Spoleto.
Day 5 Cortona – Siena Enter Tuscany and stop in the town of Cortona, made famous by the movie ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’. Arrive in Siena, and follow your Local Guide on a walk through ancient, narrow lanes to Piazza del Campo. Palio, Siena’s spectacular medieval-style horse race is held on this square every year. This evening traditional dinner outing to Monteriggioni. Overnight in Siena.
Day 6 Pienza – Montalcino Famous for pecorino cheese, Pienza enjoys the visitors with its perfect renaissance style. Continue to Montalcino, beautifully located in the Tuscan Hills, and enjoy a Brunello wine tasting, followed by lunch with local specialties. Return to Siena. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7 San Gimignano – Volterra – Orvieto Visit San Gimignano, the most picturesque of Italy’s perfectly preserved medieval towns. Next is the town of Volterra, an important Etruscan center, where the famous movie ‘New Moon’ in the Twilight Sagas was made. Continue to Orvieto for a nice promenade before dinner in a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Orvieto.
Day 8 Orvieto – Rome Hear the history of this fascinating town from your local guide during a pleasant walk through the narrow lanes. Return to the ‘Eternal City’ for a drive past Rome’s main highlights, ending at St. Peter’s Square. Special farewell dinner with wine in a local restaurant.
Day 9 Departure After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight.
