Our excursion will begin with a walk through nature to discover the most beautiful places of Etna. The first stop will be the Rifugio Sapienza (1.986 mt) where it will be possible to enjoy a walk amongst the old Silvestri craters of the eruption of 1892. The excursion will continue with the visit of a cave of lava flow, formed in 1792. Then we will stop in Zafferana Etnea, where we will visit one of the most famous organic farms for a delicious sampling of typical products such as honey, wine, etc. After the tasting, we will move to Taormina, but first we will stop at the wonderful “Isola Bella”, a Wildlife Reserve considered the “pearl of the Ionian sea” for its natural beauty, connected to the mainland by a thin strip of sand. From here it is possible to admire the bay, and the promontories of Capo S. Andrea, that hosts the renowned Grotta Azzurra (The Blue Cave), and of Capo Taormina. It is possible to bathe in these marvellous crystal clear waters. For lunchtime everyone is free. After lunch (not included) we will visit the picturesque town of Taormina. Along the main road of this town, Corso Umberto, with the Messina Gate below and the Catania Gate on the mountain side, we will admire the most important monuments: PalazzoCorvaja (The Corvaja Palace) (Museum of Arts and Folk Traditions*), the Teatro Antico* (The Old Theatre),Piazza IX Aprile, the Torre dell’orologio (The Clock Tower), the Cattedrale Fortezza (The Fortress Cathedral), theBadia Vecchia (The Old Abbey), and the Palazzo Duca di Santo Stefano (TheDuke of Saint Stephen Palace), and much more. It will also be possible to go shopping in the exclusive shops among the shops selling handicrafts.
