Departure from your location to discover the Castels of Parma. The first stop will be Busseto, located in the North Western tip of the province of Parma. The importance of this territory lies in the figure of Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901), who was born in a nearby village called Roncole. The Maestro still fascinates music lovers and people who are interested in the life of this composer, profoundly linked to our Risorgimento age. Busseto is the right place to discover the most significant sights linked to the life of the composer, starting from Piazza Verdi, where a bronze monument dedicated to the Maestro dominates the square. Here, besides the 13th century Rocca that housed the Pallavicino family, now the Municipality building, there are also the Verdi theatre, dating back between 1856 and 1868 and Casa Barezzi, where the composer lived with his wife Margherita Barezzi. Your daytrip will continue to one of the most famous Duchy’s Castles, Fontanellato. After a relaxing lunch break (not included), take your time to discover the village that preserves its original features and the typical low and narrow houses with multicolored facades which surround the wide square. The fortress of Fontanellato contains works and historical evidences of absolute value, among which the room decorated by the young Parmigianino. It also houses valuable paintings, furniture of the Fifteenth, Sixteenth, Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries and the curious “optical chamber”, a small room where, thanks to an ingenious system of lenses and prisms, you can browse on the square outside while being secretly hidden.
At the end of the day your personal driver will drive you back to your location.
